The complete product
Thirteen modules. One manuscript.
Choose a stage, then a module, to see what you provide, what PublishOS does, what you receive and why it matters. Four modules process files on your computer, eight are AI-assisted and use your own Anthropic API key, and Royalties combines a local calculator with an AI-assisted Keyword Brief.
AI-generated demonstrations are illustrative and use the fictional sample manuscript, The Quiet Morning. Results depend on the material supplied.
JavaScript is switched off, so all four stages and all thirteen modules are shown in full below, one after another.
Stage 01
Prepare the book
Prepare the files each store requires.
Print Formatter
Turn one Word manuscript into a structured print interior.
You provide
A .docx of up to 50 MB with chapter titles styled as Heading 1, plus a trim size, a page style and one of six book typefaces.
PublishOS does
Sets the page size and mirrored margins: inside 0.875″, outside 0.625″, top and bottom 0.75″. It then applies widow and orphan control, justified body text, a page break before each chapter, a Word table-of-contents field, front and back matter, running heads, and page numbering that starts at chapter one.
You receive
A print file named after your book, a report of the changes with counts, an eight-step Word checklist, and a print-ready PDF if LibreOffice is installed.
Why it matters
Page size, margins, running heads and pagination must work together. PublishOS applies them consistently and returns a report and final Word checklist before the proof stage.
- Page size set to 5 × 8 inches
- Mirrored margins set: inside 0.875″, outside 0.625″, top and bottom 0.75″
- Widow and orphan control applied; double spaces removed with a count
- Front matter added; table of contents field inserted; back matter added
- Running header added; page numbering starts at chapter one
- Page numbers: confirm numbering starts at 1 from your first chapter
- Heading styles: check every chapter title is styled Heading 1
- Table of contents: right-click the field, then Update Entire Table
- Chapter openers: confirm each chapter starts on a right-hand page
- Typography, writing lines, images, and a final PDF review before uploading

Kindle Converter
Remove print-only formatting before creating a Kindle file.
You provide
Your print .docx, or another manuscript, and whether it is a workbook with writing lines.
PublishOS does
Resets the margins to one inch and removes mirrored pages, headers, footers, section breaks and page breaks. It deletes writing lines, strips page numbers from the contents while keeping the links, left-aligns justified text and accepts any tracked changes left in the file.
You receive
A Kindle-ready .docx, a report of what was removed with counts, and a seven-step checklist (eight for workbooks) that ends in Amazon Kindle Previewer.
Why it matters
Page numbers, section breaks and fixed layout can interfere with reflowable reading. The converter removes those elements and provides a Kindle Previewer checklist.

EPUB Builder
Create an EPUB 3 file with chapters, navigation, images and a reading stylesheet.
You provide
A .docx with chapter titles styled as Heading 1.
PublishOS does
Runs the ebook cleaning passes, splits the manuscript into one file for each Heading 1, writes the package and navigation documents, adds a reading stylesheet, copies your images and packages the result as EPUB 3.
You receive
The_Quiet_Morning.epub, a list of the chapters found and the images copied, and a four-step Kindle Previewer checklist.
Why it matters
The reported chapter list shows whether each Heading 1 was recognised before the file is uploaded.

Book Outline Generator
Research the market, then build the outline.
You provide
Your book idea in your own words, the type of book, a target length and any notes on your angle.
PublishOS does
PublishOS works in three passes. It searches the web for competing titles, reviewer complaints and unmet requests. It then builds a chapter plan with word budgets and opening hooks, before checking the outline against the research.
You receive
Competitor analysis, market gaps, three title options, a named reader profile, a chapter-by-chapter outline, back cover copy, a sample opening of 400 to 500 words, a stress test, and a query letter and proposal as a .docx.
Why it matters
Early research helps an author assess the audience, competing titles and chapter plan before drafting the full manuscript.

Stage 02
Check the details
Check spelling, dialect and consistency across a series.
Spelling Converter
Convert between UK and US English with a change log you can review.
You provide
Your .docx, a direction, and a preset from spelling only to full conversion, or the individual layers.
PublishOS does
Applies 351 UK to US spelling pairs against a 200-word exception list. It converts 28 vocabulary items automatically and flags 23 context-sensitive ones instead of changing them. Dates, quote style and punctuation are optional layers. Hyperlinks, field codes and footnote references are left unchanged.
You receive
A converted .docx, a change log counted by category, and a Word comment on the first occurrence of each flagged word. In the other direction it applies 348 pairs, 21 automatic changes and 12 flags.
Why it matters
Context can change the meaning of a word. PublishOS converts unambiguous terms, flags context-sensitive cases and records the result for review.
- 351 UK-to-US spelling pairs, held against a 200-word exception list: surprise, advertise, exercise, character, doctor
- 28 vocabulary items converted automatically; 23 flagged rather than changed
- Optional layers: dates, quote style and punctuation
- Three presets, from spelling only to full conversion
- Not converted: footnotes, endnotes, headers and footers
One comment for each flagged word, on its first occurrence. The conversion runs on your computer.
Series Bible
Keep the voice and structure consistent across a series.
You provide
Your series or author name, the titles in it, the purpose of the series, your ideal reader, and excerpts from one to three of the books.
PublishOS does
Reads across the titles for consistent choices and records them as rules and example phrases rather than adjectives.
You receive
Six voice rules, eight phrases to use and eight to avoid, five emotional boundaries, five structural rules, four call-to-action rules, five cover rules, and a named reader profile of three paragraphs.
Why it matters
A written reference keeps voice, structure and recurring choices consistent across books and collaborators.
- Address the reader as “you” rather than “we”
- Name the difficulty before offering the method
- One instruction for each paragraph
- Promise a next step rather than a transformation
Voice rules
Phrases to use, and to avoid
Emotional boundaries
Structural rules
Call to action rules
Cover rules
Plus a named reader profile of three paragraphs.

Stage 03
Understand the numbers
What the book earns, and what a click can cost.
Royalties
See what the book earns before setting an advertising budget.
You provide
A marketplace (UK, US, EU, Canada or Australia), a format, a trim size, a page or word count, a list price, a monthly sales estimate and an advertising conversion rate.
PublishOS does
Calculates the printing cost from Amazon’s published fixed and per-page rates, applies the 50% or 60% royalty tier at that marketplace’s threshold, and works out the Kindle 70% or 35% option with its delivery fee and VAT or GST. It then calculates the break-even cost per click (CPC), the target ACOS (advertising cost of sale), the clicks needed for each sale and the return on advertising spend.
You receive
Four headline figures, four charts, a paperback and Kindle comparison, and a plain English summary of the bidding position. Every result includes the reminder: royalty estimates only; confirm final figures in KDP.
Why it matters
Price, printing cost and conversion rate determine how much remains for advertising. PublishOS shows those figures together before a bid is set.
Rates last checked on 8 September 2026 against Amazon’s KDP help pages. The calculator runs on your computer.
The Keyword Brief is AI-assisted. You supply a title, an optional subtitle, a target audience and any themes or excerpt you choose to paste, and PublishOS sends those to Anthropic using your own API key.
Amazon search terms
For the KDP keyword fields, which have a 1,000-character limit.
SEO and Pinterest phrases
For site copy, blog posts, pins and meta descriptions.
Long-tail questions
Beginning with what, why, how, is or can. They double as FAQ questions.
Plus 8 negative keywords: searches that would show the advert to the wrong reader.
Illustrative output
The demonstration above covers regular trim sizes and assumes a valid KDP list price. The application also supports large trim sizes and rejects list prices outside the permitted range. Royalty estimates only; confirm final figures in KDP. This is not financial advice and not a revenue promise.
Stage 04
Build the launch
The product page, posts, emails, cover brief, advertising plan and newsletters.
Product Page Builder
Create eight sections for a complete book landing page.
You provide
Title, subtitle, author, audience, a buy link, four brand colours and, where available, the manuscript.
PublishOS does
Writes eight sections and prepares each one as styled HTML that can be pasted into Squarespace.
You receive
Hero, transformation, qualification, contents, author, testimonial placeholders, FAQ and closing call to action, each with a preview and the raw HTML, plus a meta description written to a 150 to 160 character target and a head block carrying Open Graph, Twitter Card, Book and FAQ schema.
Why it matters
The module turns the book information into a complete landing-page structure, with each section ready to review, edit and publish.
The Quiet Morning
A practical guide to protecting the first thirty minutes of a working day.
- Hero · transformation · qualification · contents
- Author · testimonial placeholders · FAQ · closing call to action
- Each with a live preview and the raw HTML, inline-styled, no classes
- A meta description written to a 150 to 160 character target, with a live count that tells you if it has run long
- A head block carrying Open Graph, Twitter Card, Book and FAQ schema
Testimonials are returned as marked placeholders for you to replace.

Email Sequence Builder
Build five emails, each with a clear purpose.
You provide
What prompted the signup, your book, your first name, your reader, an optional buy link, and notes on tone.
PublishOS does
Writes to a fixed structure: Day 0 the welcome, Day 1 the story, Day 3 the value, Day 7 the bridge, Day 14 the offer. Short paragraphs, with one first-name placeholder near the top of each email.
You receive
Five emails, each with a one-sentence goal, an A and a B subject line, preview text under ninety characters, a plain-language body, and a plain-text block for Flodesk, Mailchimp, ConvertKit or another provider.
Why it matters
The fixed sequence gives each email a purpose and makes the complete journey easier to review and revise.
- A one-sentence goal, so the sequence can be reviewed later
- An A and a B subject line
- Preview text under ninety characters
- A plain-text block for Flodesk, Mailchimp, ConvertKit or another provider

Cover Brief Generator
Turn the book information into a structured brief for a cover designer.
You provide
Title, subtitle, genre, audience, the tone of the book, and any constraints you already know.
PublishOS does
Names six to eight visual clichés common in the genre, then builds four directions that avoid them. Each is worked through: mood, imagery, typography, palette, a paragraph for the designer and an image prompt at a 6:9 ratio.
You receive
Four concepts, each with a three-colour palette given as hex values with a role for each colour; a list of clichés to avoid; and five published covers in the genre with a sentence on why each is worth studying.
Why it matters
Clear constraints, references and exclusions give a designer a usable starting point and reduce avoidable revisions.
- Four distinct concepts, each worked through to an image prompt at 6:9
- Six to eight clichés common in the genre, named so they can be avoided
- Five published covers in the genre, with a sentence on why each is worth studying
The palette above belongs to the brief for the fictional sample book. PublishOS creates the cover brief; it does not design the cover.

Campaign Planner
Set Amazon advertising bids from the book’s royalty and target ACOS.
You provide
Title, marketplace, list price, royalty per sale, daily budget, target ACOS (advertising cost of sale), your reader and your keywords.
PublishOS does
Calculates the maximum cost per click and the opening bids for exact, phrase, broad and automatic targeting before any copy is generated, then builds the campaign structure around those figures.
You receive
One automatic and three manual campaigns with names, budgets, opening bids and keywords; day-one negative exact and phrase lists; a search-term harvest rule; and a seven-day checklist with an action for each day.
Why it matters
A bid ceiling and negative keyword list establish spending limits before the campaign starts.
ACOS is the advertising cost of a sale. CPC is the cost of a single click. The ceiling below is the highest a click can cost while the campaign still meets the target.
- One automatic and three manual campaigns, with names, budgets, opening bids and keywords
- Day-one negative exact and phrase lists, loaded before the campaign starts
- A search-term harvest rule
- A seven-day checklist with an action for each day
The ceiling is set by your target ACOS, so it sits below the break-even cost per click shown on the Royalties tab.

Newsletter Studio
Build twenty newsletters from one source while checking for repeated subjects.
You provide
A brand voice, a goal, an optional first-name tag and links, and your source content as pasted text, a file or a URL.
PublishOS does
Sends the source with a framework brief and the previous forty subject lines. It then scores each issue on your computer for subject length, weak openers, spam triggers, readability, calls to action and duplicate subjects.
You receive
Twenty newsletters with A and B subject lines, preview text, an opening, a body, a takeaway and a closing, each scored and graded, with text and CSV export. Each batch is logged on your computer so later batches can be compared against it.
Why it matters
The subject history and local checks help each new batch cover different ground.
The evening before
How preparing the desk the night before changes the first thirty minutes of the working day.
- Subject length, weak openers, spam triggers, readability, calls to action and duplicate subjects
- Seven frameworks across the twenty issues
- The module compares new subject lines with the previous forty and flags repeated subjects or ideas
- Each batch is logged on your computer for the next comparison

Show interest
Would PublishOS make publishing easier for you?
Leave your email address to show your interest and tell us where publishing takes the most work. Your response will help us decide what to prepare first.
Social Media Studio
Create twenty platform-specific posts without repeating the same angle.
You provide
A book title, one platform (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, Pinterest or TikTok), and your source material, pasted, uploaded, or fetched from up to five URLs.
PublishOS does
Applies that platform’s length, hashtag and format rules, then spreads twenty posts across nine hook types, six content pillars and eight copywriting frameworks, avoiding the angles used in the previous batch.
You receive
Twenty posts tagged with hook, pillar, framework and call to action, each with a quality score and a readability grade calculated on your computer. CSV and text export, carousels of eight to ten slides for LinkedIn and Instagram, and threads of five to seven for X.
Why it matters
A launch needs enough distinct material to continue beyond its first week. The module varies hooks, formats and themes while keeping the book details consistent.
“Tomorrow’s first task is easier when tonight’s desk is ready. Put the notebook, source material and first task in place before you finish work.”
“Write the first task in one sentence before you open email. That sentence is the plan for the next thirty minutes.”
“Keep the phone in another room for the first twenty minutes. The messages will still be there afterwards.”
