How PublishOS handles the information you give us.

Who is responsible

PublishOS is the data controller for the information collected through this website. Use the form further down this page to reach us about anything in this notice.

What we collect

• The email address you type into the interest form.
• Your answer to the optional question about what would help you most, if you choose one. You can submit the form without answering it.
• Anything you send us through the privacy request form on this page.

We do not ask for your name, your address, your telephone number or any payment information, and neither form accepts them.

Why we collect it

To measure how many independent authors are interested in PublishOS, to understand which publishing tasks they find hardest, and to contact you about PublishOS. Showing interest is not a purchase, a trial or a guarantee of access.

The lawful basis

The interest form is processed with your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR. You give that consent when you choose to submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time.

Privacy requests are processed because this is necessary for us to comply with our legal obligations under Article 6(1)(c) of the UK GDPR.

Any email about PublishOS is sent with your consent. Every such email will include a way to unsubscribe.

Who processes it for us

Netlify, Inc. hosts this website and processes submissions from both forms on our behalf. It is based in San Francisco in the United States, so your information is transferred outside the United Kingdom. It states that it complies with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, and that it also uses the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses under Implementing Decision 2021/914. You can read its privacy policy in full.

We do not sell your information or share it for advertising. No analytics service is active on this website.

Cookies

This website sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and does not track you across other websites.

How long we keep it

• Interest form submissions: kept for up to ninety days from the day you submit the form, then deleted.
• Privacy requests: only as long as it takes to deal with your request, and deleted within thirty days of answering it.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to be told what we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to what we do with it, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent at any time. Use the form below and we will respond within one month. You do not need to give a reason.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first, using the form above, so that we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or by telephone on 0303 123 1113.

This notice applies to the PublishOS interest website. If we change how either form works, we will change this notice before the change goes live.
